Cherry Red Productions was founded by Ian Allen and Chris Griffin in Washington, DC, in 1995. Over the years, the company has staged over 30 plays -- including new work by big-time playwrights like Billy Bermingham, Jeff Goode, Wendy MacLeod, and Justin Tanner.

In 2005, Cherry Red produced it's first full-length feature film, Trapped by the Mormons. The film, a remake of the 1921 anti-mormon silent film of the same name, was screened at festivals across the country, garnering acclaim from the Village Voice, New Yorker, Washington Post, and Salt Lake Tribune among others.

Intent upon producing work wherein the common element is an irreverent approach to a serious theme, Cherry Red Productions is dedicated to creating entertainment that appeals first to the body, then to the mind.
